About the South Street Seaport MuseumSouth Street Seaport Museum’s collections consist of approximately 30,000 objects documenting the rise of New York as a port city, and its role in the development of the economy and business of the United States through the social and architectural landscapes. The collections include ship models, paintings, scrimshaw, drawings, prints, photographs, navigational instruments, and many historical objects related to trade from the Seaport itself, including those from the Fulton Fish Market, the coffee and tea industry, and letterpress printing, which supported the growth of New York as a financial powerhouse.

Significant holdings include the Seamen’s Bank for Savings Collection, the Alan Govenar and Kaleta Doolin Tattoo Collection, as well as the Ocean Liner Museum Collection; with major contributions from Jack R. Aron, Peter Aron and the J. Aron Charitable Foundation.
