About the Waring Historical Library of the Medical University of South Carolina: The Waring Historical Library is the special collections and rare book library for the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). Named for Joseph I. Waring, Jr., the first director of the Historical Library. The Waring’s collections are comprised of rare books, manuscript materials, photographs, prints and other visual items, rare journals, museum artifacts, and archival collections. The collections document the history of the health sciences in South Carolina and the southeast as well as the history of the Medical University of South Carolina.
