About the Bibliothèque d’étude et de conservation de Besançon: The Bibliothèque d’étude et de conservation of Besançon is a public library founded in 1694 by Jean-Baptiste Boisot. The current building, opened in 1818, houses a large collection of heritage documents (manuscripts, plans, drawings…) and documents about Franche-Comté. Mémoire Vive is Besançon’s digital library. It presents, online, collections from the bibliothèque d’étude et de conservation and the municipal archives, but also from the 4 museums of Besançon.
