About the Portland Art Museum Library and Archives: As the research center for the oldest art museum in the Pacific Northwest, the Portland Art Museum Library and Archives is the region’s most comprehensive visual art resource, open to students, researchers, docents, staff, and the public. The Library and Archives originated with the Museum’s founding in 1892, and contains current and historical periodicals, Northwest art and artist archives, and resources specific to the Museum’s history and encyclopedic art collection.
