About the Stanford Medical History Center, Lane Library: The Stanford Medical History Center is the archives and rare books collection for the Stanford University School of Medicine. Our materials cover the institutional history of Stanford Medicine going back to its beginnings in mid-nineteenth century San Francisco. We also have materials about the history of medicine more generally – including many thousands of rare books going back to the thirteenth century.
