About the Bibliothèques municipales de Chambéry: “The public library of Chambéry was founded in 1783 with the bequest of the Abbot of Mellarède and preserves the largest heritage collection in Savoie and Haute-Savoie. Kept at the Jean-Jacques Rousseau library, this very important heritage collection represents 5 linear kilometers and 150,000 documents : manuscripts, incunabula, ancient books, maps and plans, prints, archives, ancient postcards.
