About the Conservatoire national des arts et métiers (CNAM): The Conservatoire national des arts et métiers (Cnam, or National Conservatory of Arts and Crafts) was founded in 1794 by Abbé Henri Grégoire as a “depository for machines, models, tools, drawings, descriptions and books in all the areas of the arts and trades”. The Cnam library holds a large collection of heritage documents (printed books, manuscripts, drawings) about the history of technology. Since 2000, these documents are digitized and available on the Cnum, the heritage online library of the Cnam: https://cnum.cnam.fr/.
