About the Massachusetts Eye and Ear, Abraham Pollen Archives: Originally established in 1824, Massachusetts Eye and Ear is today a Harvard Medical School teaching hospital, and is recognized as an international leader in clinical care, research, and education in the fields of ophthalmology and otolaryngology. The Abraham Pollen Archives within the Howe Library at Massachusetts Eye and Ear contain the historical records and papers of the hospital, including Annual Reports from the 1800’s to the present, many old case reports, an extensive photograph collection, an instrument collection, board records, and other hospital records. There is also a Rare Book Room which contains over 3,000 volumes, dating back to 1490.
